PARISH BOOK OF CHANT
2nd Edition

CATHEDRAL CHOIR homepage
YOUTH SCHOLA HOMEPAGE
“The Church acknowledges Gregorian chant as specially suited to the Roman liturgy: therefore, other things being equal, it should be given pride of place in liturgical services. But other kinds of sacred music, especially polyphony, are by no means excluded from liturgical celebrations, so long as they accord with the spirit of the liturgical action.”
― Pope Paul VI, Sacrosanctum Concilium (1963)

* the first link above directs you to the YouTube playlist for our Parish Book of Chant, 2nd Edition repertoire. The second link is a Google Drive link that contains mp3 audio of the same exact tracks from the YouTube playlist. Which one should you use? The YouTube playlist you need WiFi connection for or a solid data-plan on your phone. The Google Drive link is audio-only (no video) and you can download the tracks + put them into a playlist via media player e.g. Apple Music (iTunes) or Spotify etc. The advantage of the latter method (though it takes more work initially) is that you have no commercials and you don't need an internet connection to play the tracks once they're downloaded.

“Gregorian Chant has always been regarded as the supreme model for sacred music, so that it is fully legitimate to lay down the following rule: the more closely a composition for church approaches in its movement, inspiration and savor the Gregorian form, the more sacred and liturgical it becomes; and the more out of harmony it is with that supreme model, the less worthy it is of the temple.”
― Pope St. Pius X, in "Tra le sollecitudini" (1903)
